As my experience says, drops is independed from character class you kill mobs. I was farming on wind rider like mobs near seeker's and they seem to drop similar stuff all the time with monk/ele/mesmer primary classes (but I have no formal proof for that)

I can assure you that mesmers can farm very effectively, I personally like to solo Mahgo Hydras in perdition rock, I can handle up to 4-5 hydras at the time. It is just quite tricky to do it (most people prefer to stay in one place and press the same combination of keys). I do it because I like to play mesmer (my favorite class) and it is not so boring like monk or w/mo, etc.
Just I want to say "illusion is your friend", you can use degen+slow (crippling+conjure phantasm+phantom pain with mantra of persistence) and illusion of haste when it gets too hot
Another way is IW+distortion+spirit of failure (which seems to work nice against some kind of mobs)
Problem is that people would want to easy get a lot of money (maybe even get 1p each time when key P is pressed :P ) Where is the fun that is comming from playing?
I also believe that slowing down water ele or heavy armored earth can be great (and fun) for farming though I didn't tried it yet.
Key is to experience with your own setup, char that you like to play most and what is most important: get fun of it!!!

I'm fairly new to Guild Wars and have heard a lot about farming. I'm still not sure how to use my skills completely.

Could someone post a good Warrior/Monk farm build? I'm currently Sword specialist, but i've noticed that a lot of the more serious warriors aren't.

any help would be appreciated

Default Warrior/Monk Solo Builds

This is one of my earlier builds:

Sword Warrior Build:

It is very easy for a Wa/Mo to make, and is virtually foolproof....

First off, my Armament is All Platemail set, except for the boots, which are Knight's. All Major Runes (Vigor, Tactics, Strength, Swordsmanship, Absorption). I wield a simple Spatha of Defense (15% while enchanted / +5 Armor) and the collector Crimson (+45 health while enchanted / -2 dmg enchanted).

I have 2 in Smiting, 9 in Strength, 14 Swordsmanship, and 13 Tactics.

Skill set is as follows (in order from left to right).....

Galrath Slash, Power Strike, Bonnetti's Defense, Gladiator's Defense, Watchful Spirit, Balthatzar's Spirit, Healing Signet, and Sprint(optional; used to get away from Rockshots [ their disrupts SUCK] , alternately drop some strength and increase smiting, and replace Sprint with Symbol of Wrath)......in that order.

1. Start with Spirits

2. Run into group, attack for a min., use Bonnetti's, gain energy, while attacking.

3. Galrath then Power, when Bonnetti's is about to go off, and it will recharge Bonnetti's.

4. Then hit Gladiator's, when it becomes available (And Symbol of Wrath, if you have opted to put that in the place of Sprint.

5. Healing Signet while Gladiator's is on.

Repeat steps 2 and 3, until Glad's is back up, then hit it again.
If your health gets low for any reason, hit Healing Signet, while Gladiator's is on.

Repeat and Farm solo forever. I am up to 97k now, not to mention the numerous killer Golds I have found, and the numerous Dune Borrower Jaws and Minotaur Horns I get from the solo Elona Reach mission run (just the first part). If you are ever on, and want to see some of the stuff I collect, or want to see me in action, my main farmer is Synthia Starstriker.

I have since done things a bit differently, but it requires precise timing to stay alive......

All equipment is the same, Atts are a bit different:

Smiting 8
Strength 9
Swordmanship 13
Tactics 12

OK. Here's the plot line:

Mostly minotaurs and griffons......

1. Start with Spirits
2. Run in and take enough hits to get 10 energy.
3. Gladiator's Defense and Symbol of Wrath.
4. Build up Bonetti's and use it.
5. Build up Bonettis again and use Balthazar's Aura, then hit Bonetti's 2 seconds later.

Rinse and repeat, just make sure to keep Bonetti's going, while Gladiator's Defense is charging up.

My 2 cents.

Yea, so far that I've noticed monks seem to be the most effective...But you still don't have to use Mo/W to farm...I farm quite nicely with my Mo/N, even in UW still...You just have to take things easy and prepare yourself for the worse...And juicing up your divine favor helps out a lot too, because practically ever monk spell you use will heal you when you are farming, save the sigs cuz those don't heal you...I've also experimented with my own necro...I don't want to leak out too much info...(hehe)...But AOTL has become sorta like a prot. spirit...My normal farming spots are out in the desert when I am not in UW and occasionally sorrows...

I just wanted to make a comment about that...Even though spells and such have been "fixed," Anet doesn't have a problem with people farming...I think it's more like they wanted to make things fair for everyone else...(Sorry bout the double post)

1.) Never use a sword to farm when you are a warrior.
2.) I farm the snow minataurs for dyes...see my pic above....nothing else.
3.) For gold, and xp I farm the griffons and desert area.

I saw another locked thread where someone was farming with a sword and 100 blades. That is a good skill but not as good as an axe because:

1.) Cyclone axe has a wider area of attack than 100blades (full 360)
2.) Cyclone axe has a faster recharge time.
3.) Cyclone does extra damage to all adjacent, while 100 only does extra damage to the foe (hits 2x) and then hits all adjacent at normal weapon damage.
4.) Hundred is an elite, and having cyclone frees you up for shield of judgement or healing hands.
5.) You can't get 100 blades until the very last mission!

I agree that Cyclone Axe is a worthy skill, and I would probably kill faster with it, but I still like my sword. It is a 10/10 Sundering, 15%^50, +6 Def against Physical Sword, so I will stick with farming with it. Besides, with SoW and BA I can take out most melee enemies ([Elona Reach]Minos and Desert Griffons) fairly quickly. Thanks for the tips on using the Axe though.

When I farm, I do not put a lot of attribute points into my axe mastery, so I need one with low requirements. The axe is primarily used to gain health per hit and to get bonetti D up as fast as possible, so cyclone is the best skill for this.

I use a max damage gold axe that +15% damage while enchanted, 15% armor penetration (20% chance), and enchantments last 20% longer. The enchanted part is important because I maintain an enchantement on me and kill with Balthazar's Aura. Normally this last 10sec, but now lasts 12 sec and does a total of 240 damage to each creature!

All level 21s. That's the basis of farming. (As you can see, there are no party members I have to split the loot with.)

The picture you put up Arukima doesn't show any basis of farming.

There ONLY best build that works for one person is a build that one can use easiest. One just has to know their limits. Either best in a group, or best alone. Knowing where to go, when to go, and who against is what you feel easiest doing. All these are suggestions, but many of the statements above are not facts.

In somewhat replies above.

1. Weapon of choice doesn't matter. But it is determined by your build. An elementalist/monk can use an axe that has a 20% enchantment lasting longer if that person prefers it. For skills, also by preference. You heal more with hundred blades and than cyclone axe if you were to put vigorous spirit and live vicariously IF you know how to position the enemy right in front of you. Anything else goes, just as long as it works for you.

2. Drops are completely random. Obviously with some certain factors. What can affect the type of drops is the type of enemy, what item drops it normally drops (weapons? armor? collector items?). How many times you have killed them (Anet gametip summary: Don't keep going to the same place over and over, monsters need to stock back up on items. So play maps "normally."

3. Patience and the will to commit the time into farming is also an important factor. Just because one farms doesn't mean one can reach up to 100k a day. For all those who say they get rich easy and quick, is only because it took them awhile to get to where they are now. Don't expect to do so well so quickly. If you do succeed your first few tries, good job.

4. Knowing the maps, knowing the enemy, and know when too much is too much.

5. As much as trading can make a quick plat, do not spend your time typing something related to: "WTS GODLY *ITEM*" For one obvious reason, you can be getting more items than the time you could be typing that one sentence.

6. Enjoy the frickin game. Don't spend hours upon hours trying to get rich, because that isn't the point. Go do PvP instead, go out with friends, go play ball, get a girlfriend/boyfriend. Sitting on one's ass whole time trying to make IN game money can be fullfilling, but is it fullfilling in the longrun?

Sorry, I guess I was mixing the first and last percentages together to get the middle one?! I was trying to remember it off the top of my head while I was at work. It is actually a 10/10 sundering. Thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow....and if I come across one for real, its gonna cost ya more than 100k and 50 ecto.

Arukima,

No offense but that is a pretty crappy drop. Here is what you want to see during a farming run:
